1000 Degrees Pizza – Cupertino By San Jose Food Blog

Cupertino welcomes the latest fast-casual pizzeria, 1000 Degrees Pizza, from New Jersey. The chain is a franchise and the Cupertino location is currently the only one in California. I was invited by the chain for a complimentary meal. Here are my thoughts.
They serve personal sized pizzas made from authentic Neapolitan flour. The dough is never frozen and is made fresh. It bakes in this very stylish round oven with a rotating stone base. The stone turns around like a Lazy Susan and it evenly distributes the heat. The pizza is done within about 2 minutes.
($7.95) 10″ Classic Margherita with Pepperoni – I ordered my favorite, the Classic Margherita with pepperoni. It was very satisfying. I could not be more pleased with the dough. They actually spin it out by hand and the shape is endearingly not a perfect round. It had just the right amount of air but was still thin.

($8.95) Customized 10″– Sriracha marinara, mozzarella, all meat except ham, mushrooms, jalapeno, onions
They allow unlimited toppings here. Phil always loves that because he adds almost all the meat then a few choice vegetables. This was an excellent combo. The Sriracha marinara sauce does add a bit of zing to the pie.

Between the two fast-casual pizzeries I have tried so far, Blaze and Pieology, 1000 Degrees has the best dough. It rises a bit more than Blaze’s and it has a crust unlike Pieology’s.

Free Pizza: 1000 Degrees Opens in Cupertino

At 1000 Degrees, the Smokey Pollo is topped with chicken in bourbon-barbecue sauce, onions, peppers, and two cheeses. Oh, and pineapple.

The fast-fired pizza trend is not just A Thing. It’s A Big Thing.

The newest entrant in the Bay Area market is 1000 Degrees, which has fired up the Neapolitan ovens in Cupertino at Homestead Square. It’s the first California location for the New Jersey-based pizzeria franchise chain.

At the grand opening celebration on Thursday, April 28, any guest will receive a free 10-inch pizza of their choice between the hours of 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. And the first 10 people through the door get pizza for a year.

Freezing for pizza

Grand Forks, ND (WDAZ-TV) – What would you do for free pizza for an entire year?

1000 Degrees Pizza gave free pizza to everybody at Thursday’s grand opening. They also promised free pizza for a year for the first 10 people to show up in line. Some were in line since Wednesday night.

Jim Knable, UND student: “It’s free. I’ve never actually had this pizza so I don’t really know how it tastes but I’m assuming it’s pretty good. It’s pizza.”

Spoken like a true college student. Most of the 10 people that braved subzero temperatures for 10 inches of dough and melted cheese were UND students.

Augustine Brock, UND student: “Hopefully it is 1000 degrees to counter this cold weather.”

From the hungry to the borderline strange; one man wouldn’t even come out of his tent to explain why he’s braving elements.

Alexander Fief, ‘Tent Man’: “Free pizza. My mother always told me that frugality is a virtue so I figure that this is my ticket to heaven.”

At 7 a.m. after 9 hours in the deep freeze, the adjoined hotel let the disheveled youths line up out of the cold. They were quickly joined by nearly 100 others for the hottest free thing in town.

And when the doors opened: jubilation. The 10 that made it will get one free pizza for every week of 2016.

Knable: “I think after that night, you have to like it. So just keep thinking back to sitting outside in the cold and you’ll like the pizza.”
