Sometimes you want fast food. No, not fast food, but food that’s served fast. When you can cook your food at between 800 and 1000 degrees, fast is what you get. 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza is named after its cooking instructions, baking pizzas fast and perfectly in a beautiful, huge pizza oven, built right there, on site. 1000 Degrees is a franchise and Jeff Lester, franchisee, has opened his first location in Federal Heights, with a second location opening in Boulder around Valentine’s Day.
The straight forward menu offers salads, pre-planned pizzas (10 or 16 inch) with combinations of ingredients they know will work together or build-your-own with unlimited veggies and meats. But don’t go crazy piling it on or it won’t cook properly. And it will all fall in your lap and you’ll look foolish!
The friendly, efficient staff walks newbies through the menu, adding fresh ingredients before sliding your pizza onto the rotating
oven surface. In most pizza ovens, the staff has to really be on top of things, keeping track of which pizzas went in at what time, rotating them around the oven to cook evenly and take advantage of the various hot spots. But in this one, the bottom rotates for even cooking. The process yields a proper mix of light, crispy exterior crust with a more tender, chewy center.
When we visited, we tried the Hawaiian Fire with spicy sriracha marinara, shredded mozzarella, Canadian bacon, banana peppers, and pineapple and the Sausage and Peppers with marinara, shredded mozzarella, Italian sausage, red and green peppers, and red onions. There are other, more unique offerings like The Falafel with shredded mozzarella, feta, falafel, tomatoes, and arugula. Or The Philly with balsamic onions, mozzarella, and thinly sliced rib-eye. There are also salads and Fire Roasted Wings with these varieties – Buffalo, Smokey Bourbon BBQ, Sesame Orange, Garlic and Rosemary or Dry.
